Not Achieving Your Fundraising Goal Is The Best Thing That Could Have Happened To You

So you didn’t make your fundraising goal. Guess what? That’s the best thing that could have happened to you…

(If this sounds like nails on a chalkboard to you, hear me out, please)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Whenever I set fundraising goals, and work with my clients 1:1, I have them set huge fundraising goals. These aren’t always their actual budget revenue numbers, but they are the north star for where they’re headed.

Truth be told, most of the time they don’t reach these big, most audacious goals. And it doesn’t bother them, though. Just like it wouldn’t bother you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀


  • Because you still raised SO much more than you would have if your goal had been smaller. You built a much more robust pipeline. 
  • You pushed yourselves outside of your comfort zone. ⠀
  • Your mind was able to come up with so many more amazing ideas and solutions when you just allowed yourself to think big, and to act big.⠀⠀
  • You then started to act like you’re running an organization that had already hit the crazy, insane goal you set which meant your progress was actually faster even though you weren’t entirely hitting every # you set out to hit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
